What are "Door" concepts?
Jesus used the door to illustrate vital concepts. We believe when followers of Jesus embrace these concepts, they will be reminded of His presence and will be inspired to share His life with others.
Concept 1 - Jesus wants to take care of us
The “door of the sheep” is a parable Jesus told in John 10, that explained His intention to protect His followers. He compared Himself to the "good shepherd" who laid down over the doorway of the sheepfold at night to protect his lambs. In the morning the good shepherd would rise up and let them out and take care of them through out the day. He knew their names - like we know our pet's names. He kept them out of trouble if they stayed close by. And if they wandered off, he would find them and bring them back to safety.
Jesus said, "I am the door of the sheep". He went on to say that He was like the good shepherd and would lay down His life and pick it back up again, so He could take care of His followers for eternity. He did this because He loves us, and knows us by name. He is still ALIVE and available through the power of the Holy Spirit to help His followers.
Concept 2 - Jesus is the doorway to heaven
In John 14:6 Jesus described Himself as an entry point or door way to God the Father. He said no one comes to the Father but through Him. That makes Jesus the doorway into our heavenly Father's kingdom.
Concept 3 - We are doors to each other and to Him
In Revelation 3:20 Jesus said He stands at our "door" and knocks, and if anyone opens their "door" He will come in and "sup" or take the principal meal with them. One if His names is the Bread of Life, and the meal we take with Him is a meal of Life.
There is a world that is dying to know the wonder and saving grace of the Lord Jesus. As we keep our "door" open, we can share His Life with others. You could be the door someone will find Jesus through.
